Faculty Learning Communities
During AY 17-18, one of the exciting activities in faculty development are FLCs (faculty learning communities) that have developed on each of our 4 campuses. The FLCs were established by faculty (with the support of campus leadership, LEAD office, and the Centers for Learning Excellence). FLCs are interdisciplinary groups who choose to engage in active, collaborative discussions and yearlong activities about teaching and learning. While each campus FLC’s topic is different (click on links below to learn more about each campus focus) over 40 of the faculty and staff involved chose to attend the Original Lilly Conference on College Teaching at Miami University in November. If you are interested in learning more or in joining your campus FLC, please contact your campus facilitator(s) or the LEAD Office.

2017 Original Lilly Conference on College Teaching – Miami University at Oxford November 16-19, 2017
Lilly Institute on Faculty Learning Communities – Traverse City Michigan June 18 – 20, 2018
Over the summer, 10 Tri-C faculty and staff traveled to Lilly Institute on Faculty Learning Communities in order to learn to become FLC facilitators at their campus. The three day conference covered the components/structure of FLCs, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL), group projects with other institutions, and Tri-C campus planning.
