D2L's Brightspace for Students
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) is transitioning its learning management system (LMS) from Anthology’s Blackboard Learn to D2L’s Brightspace. In the Summer and Fall 2024 terms, your courses may be taught in either Blackboard Learn or Brightspace. Depending on your course schedule, this may mean that all your courses are in Blackboard, all your courses are in Brightspace, or some of your courses are in Blackboard and some of your courses are in Brightspace.
How to Access Your Courses
You can access your courses in my Tri-C space by locating the “Blackboard/Brightspace” card and selecting the “Blackboard LMS” or “Brightspace LMS” buttons.
If you are not sure which LMS your course will use, select the “Blackboard LMS” in my Tri-C space and take the following steps:
- Log in to Blackboard.
- Find your course in the courses tab.
- Your course will be offered in Brightspace if there is no course content or if there is a message from the instructor indicating the course will be taught in Brightspace.
If you are still unsure which LMS will be used for your course, please contact your instructor.

Wishing you the best this summer term!
Transition Phases
The transition to D2L's Brightspace will occur in three phases, :
Phase 1 — Summer 2024 (Early adoption)
Phase 2 — Fall 2024
Phase 3 — Spring 2025 (All courses taught using Brightspace)
During the initial two phases of implementation, both Blackboard Learn Original and D2L’s Brightspace will be used simultaneously. Therefore, you may find yourself taking courses on one or both systems during Summer 2024 and Fall 2024. However, starting Spring 2025, all courses will be taught exclusively using D2L's Brightspace.
To prepare for this transition to D2L’s Brightspace, the Online Learning and Academic Technology team (OLAT) will continually update this page with additional information. Make sure to check back regularly and utilize the Support and Resources links provided on this page.
Brightspace Orientation
All students will be able to access the "Orientation: Student Guide to Brightspace" from their Brightspace homepage. This resource will provide instructions to students on:
