Veterans Campus Support Teams
The Tri-C Veteran and Military Connected Services (VMCS) department was organized to provide a broad range of services to student veterans and their families. The Veterans Campus Support Teams were developed as part of that organization. These teams are made up of specialists from key departments throughout the College.

Marjorie Morrison, Director

Marjorie Morrison began her work with VMCS as a math instructor and later served as the academic coordinator and advisor before becoming the director of the program. While her position has changed over the years, she believes her involvement with VMCS students and the program's team continues to be rewarding.
"It is an extremely gratifying experience to watch students progress, because they are often amazed at what they know by the end of the refresher course," Morrison says.
Ally Sroczynski, Program Manager

Ally Sroczynski is the program manager for the Metropolitan and Westshore campuses. She earned her Associate of Arts and completed an internship in the Western Campus President's Office. Prior to joining Tri-C, Sroczynski served four years in the U.S. Navy as an electrician and earned a bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University in psychology.
Matthew Miller, Ed.D.

Matthew Miller is the program manager and archivist for the Western Campus Crile Archives Center and VMCS. He holds a bachelor's degree from Kent State University, a master's degree from Cleveland State University and a doctorate from Kansas State University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Ohio National Guard, where he served as a Cannon Crewmember of 13 Bravo.
Leasa Hunter, Program Manager

Leasa Hunter is an alumnus of Tri-C, Eastern Campus. She has A Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree, from Ursuline college. Her background is in, Human Services and Admissions and Marketing. As a Volunteer Guardian, Leasa enjoys advocating on the behalf of her Wards. She also loves spending time with her doggy-daughter, Kodie and her Mom’s dog (and doggy-sister), Bella.
Nick Nunez, Student Liaison

Nick Nunez began his professional path in education at Tri-C in 2015 as a student ambassador, where one of his main roles was tutoring math. Since then, he has been passionate about helping others get over speed bumps in their academic journey. He's now back at Western Campus, a place he considers a second home, doing everything he can to help the veteran students at Tri-C succeed.
Joseph Connelly, Student Liaison

Joseph Connelly is a Tri-C Manufacturing Technology alum. He worked as a machinist before returning to the Metro Campus as a student liaison. Connelly is an Air Force veteran. He holds a bachelor's degree in dance and a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art. He has a background in student advising and teaching.
Kimberly Lane-Crowder, Student Liaison

Kimberly Lane-Crowder comes from a family of veterans and is a longtime educator. She enjoys meeting Tri-C students and helping them in any way she can. She is the student liaison at the Eastern and Metro campuses. This avid theatergoer likes to read and spend time with her husband and their cutest puppy ever born.
Peter Schmitt, Outreach Specialist

Peter Schmitt is the outreach specialist for the VMCS. He graduated with an Associate of Arts from Tri-C in 2021 and plans to finish up a Bachelor of Arts at Cleveland State University. Schmitt served 20 years in the U.S. Army and now dedicates his time to family and friends. He has a deep passion for assisting veterans and their families. Schmitt works mainly at the Veterans Education Connection Center, where he helps veterans with computer use, educational materials and more.
Katie Sarn, Coordinator

Katie Sarn is the coordinator of Veteran Student Services for the Western and Westshore campuses. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Ashland University and a Master of Education from Regent University. She began her work in higher education as a professional English tutor in 2013. Since then, she has maintained an unwavering dedication to helping students succeed and reach their goals.
Mary Ellen Hanson, Coordinator

Mary Ellen Hanson is the coordinator of VMCS for the Metro and Eastern campuses. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Bowling Green State University. Her professional journey at Tri-C began as a sign language interpreter. She later moved into administrative roles on both the student support side and in academic departments. She is grateful for the opportunity in VMCS to support those who have served.
