This program provides the basic skills and practice needed to start a career as a personal chef. Students receive instruction in the fundamentals of culinary arts, food safety and sanitation, contemporary cuisine and menu planning for healthy living. This 9 month program includes valuable coursework in both event planning and the business aspects of personal chef business. Credits earned for this certificate may apply towards Associate of Applied Business Degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Culinary Arts.
Primary components of the certificate program are:
- Culinary Concentrations: hands on food preparation, with emphasis on the fundamentals of cooking and contemporary cuisine are included in the curriculum. Menu planning with a focus on technique for healthy living is explored along with food safety and sanitation.
- Personal Development: appropriate and effective communication skills in customer service, along with the fundamentals of event planning and business management
- Academic Development: prepares the student for problem solving, decision making, cost controls, purchasing strategies, and sales strategies of personal business ownership.
