Clinical Observation
Students who have applied to the Respiratory Care program have the option to participate in a clinical observation experience prior to the start of the program. The clinical observation experience provides incoming Respiratory Care students with an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the field before starting the program. Participants will observe respiratory therapists in a clinical setting, allowing them to see real-world applications of the skills they will learn. This experience offers valuable insight into patient care, respiratory procedures and the role of a respiratory therapist (RT) within a health care team. While not required, it is highly recommended for students who want to enhance their understanding of the profession and better prepare for the program.
Applicants for the Respiratory Care program are asked to notify the program director if they want to participate in a clinical observation experience. Once confirmed by the program director, applicants may contact the following individuals (or other hospitals larger than 200 beds) to schedule an observation visit of the hospital's respiratory care department:
