Overview
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Utilities Technology provides students with a background in essential utilities construction and operations. Students will learn about telecommunications/fiber, water, wastewater and gas system operations, standard construction tasks (including fiber splicing), and operating equipment such as aerial lifts, directional boring machines, hydrovac trucks and mini-excavators safely. Students will learn about aerial and underground construction methods and utility components. This program includes potential paid internships in the utilities industry.
As the designated training location for the 16-county region in Northeast Ohio, this program meets the rising demand for skilled workers looking to enter or advance in Northeast Ohio's utility contracting and public utilities industry.

Program Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- Holds a valid Ohio driver's license
- Has a high school or GED diploma
- Passes a DOT physical and drug screen**
- Passes the basic CDL permit test**
Graduates can gain knowledge or certification in:
- Fiber Optic Technician
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour training
- CPR and First Aid
- Flagger
- Confined Space Entry
- Excavation and Trenching**
