The Utilities Safety and Operations Fundamentals certificate gives students the essential background to begin working safely in utilities construction in entry-level roles. Students learn the basics of construction safety, advanced safety, traffic management, reading utility prints, locating underground utilities, and operating equipment through hands-on labs.
As the designated training location for the 16-county region in Northeast Ohio, this program meets the rising demand for skilled workers looking to enter or advance in Northeast Ohio's utility contracting and public utilities industry.

Program Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- Holds a valid Ohio driver's license
- Has a high school or GED diploma
- Passes a DOT physical and drug screen**
- Passes the basic CDL permit test**
Graduates can gain knowledge or certification in:
- Fiber Optic Technician
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour training
- CPR and First Aid
- Flagger
- Confined Space Entry
- Excavation and Trenching**
