Mission Statement
The Student Centers for Multicultural Engagement support student success in an educational environment that celebrates and actively promotes diversity and multiculturalism and fosters inclusivity and equity for all Tri-C students.
Vision
To create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere and culture that fosters a sense of belonging and safety, champions equity, eliminates barriers and creates programs that prepare individuals to understand the relationship between self, others and the community as an important component of sustained student success.
Goals
- Diversity Appreciation - Promote student success and identity development by encouraging self-acceptance and intercultural competence, respect and appreciation for differences in race, color, religion, ethnic heritage, national origin, diverse languages, cultural tradition, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation and gender expression, genetic information and/or disability.
- Equity - Intentionally design holistic services and resources that promote student success through identifying and dismantling barriers and encouraging individuals to make informed decisions about their academic, professional and personal goals.
- Inclusion - Engage the College community in actively listening to student voices, encouraging brave spaces and dialogues, creating diverse representation and safe spaces, and cultivating a sense of belonging in all students.
- Collegewide Collaboration - Foster collaboration and engagement across the College community to intentionally develop multicultural programming and improve systemic issues of inequity.
