2020 Student of the Year
The Student of the Year Award is presented every spring to one student on each campus. Requirements include 24 credit hours by the end of fall term, a minimum 2.5 accumulative grade point average, 50 documented volunteer hours and General Leadership Certification. Funding for the award is generously provided by the College’s Foundation Office.
The 2020 Student of the Year is Ibrahim Sackey. Ibrahim wrote in his essay about the various things they have learned while being a leader. He says it is about serving, putting others first, and leading by example. He expressed that having participated in the Leadership Certification Program helped him build his confidence, and understand the importance of teamwork. He has earned 10 certifications in his program, Applied Business-IT. Congratulations, Ibrahim!
Board Student Scholar: 2019-2020
Our outgoing 2019-2020 Board Student Scholar was Mohamed Ag Almahamoud. We thank you for representing students college wide, and wish you the best of luck upon your graduation and transfer over to Cleveland State.
All-Ohio Academic Team
Three Tri-C Metro students were named to the All-Ohio Community College Academic Team, which comprises top students at the state’s two-year schools.
The All-Ohio Academic Team recognizes student excellence in academics, leadership and community service. The program is administered through the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society, and each student is a member of the Alpha Zeta Delta Chapter here at the Metropolitan Campus. Congratulations to Jamilla, Andrea, and Samantha on such an accomplishment!
Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. PTK provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service, an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, lively fellowship for scholars, and stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Student Government
Student government officers are elected by their peers to represent students’ perspectives on issues that impact the educational experience.
Senators develop and improve institutional standards and practices, promote academic freedom and civic engagement, protect students’ rights, and educate the student body on local, state and national education policies.

Student Leadership Program
The Student Leadership Certification Program provides students with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills outside of the classroom in a co-curricular capacity. Students gain leadership skills through workshops, volunteer service, student club participation and student engagement activities.
