Prerequisites
These five core courses must be completed prior to applying:
- PTAT-1000 Introduction to Physical Therapy Patient Care (Offered at Tri-C Metro campus only - no transfer credit accepted.)
- ENG-1010 College Composition I
- BIO-2331 Anatomy and Physiology I
- MA-1020 Medical Terminology I
- MATH-1410 Elementary Probability and Statistics I (We will still accept MATH-1240 for students starting the program in Fall 2025.)
Prerequisite core course GPA 3.0
The GPA calculation will include the five prerequisite courses listed above. Each prerequisite course may only be repeated one time to improve a grade. A withdrawal (“W”) from a course counts as an attempt.
40 Hours of documented observation/volunteer/work time
These hours must be completed within the two-year period prior to date of application and time must be split between two different types of physical therapy settings. Instructions on completing these hours are detailed on the experience verification form found on the program website. (Students may apply to the program before these hours are completed.)
10-year limit for sciences credit
Students are encouraged, but not required, to complete Anatomy and Physiology I and II within 10 years of applying to the program.
Overall college GPA of 2.7
This GPA calculation will include all current and previous college credits.
Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED
Must be 18 years old by August of the year starting the program.
TOEFL scores for international and ESL students
Based on the English language proficiency requirements used for admission to the College.
*Complete all non-PTAT courses (This is not a prerequisite requirement.)
Applicants are encouraged to have a plan to complete all non-PTAT courses listed in the curriculum sequence before starting the PTA Program. (BIO-2341, ENG-1020, PSY-1010, HTEC-1120, and HTEC-1610)
