Day in the Life
Pharmacy Technology students get hands-on experience in their classes, creating a smooth transition from the classroom to the pharmacy.
The pharmacy practice courses present students with real, everyday scenarios, simulating situations seen on the job. Students don’t feel like students; the faculty treats them more like pharmacy employees in training.
Work in the on-campus laboratory offers students the opportunity to develop their skills as future technicians in a hospital or community retail pharmacy setting.
Tasks performed include:
- Properly mixing IV fluids, ointments and creams.
- Utilizing real medical supplies.
- Operating devices and using technology important in pharmacy workplaces.
Pharmacology and current topics in pharmacy courses create an open forum for dialogue between faculty and students in the program. Students discuss the same sorts of topics being considered by professionals in the field.
