Medical Assisting Admission Requirements
If you meet the requirements listed below, we invite you to submit an application:
- High School Graduate/GED
- Completion of ENG-1010 with "C" or higher
- Placement into college-level math or higher
- Completion of MA 1010 or MA 1020 with a "C" or higher
- Completion of IT 1090 with a "C" or higher for the AAS pathway
GPA required: 2.00 Overall
Other Information:
For the fall semester, 15 students will be accepted at both Metro & West campuses (30 total students). For the spring semester, 15 students will be accepted at Metro campus.
Information to register for criminal background checks and health requirements will be discussed during the mandatory Medical Assisting orientation. Please do not register early for the background checks as they may not be valid when you enter the program. Students will not be able to register for MA specific courses until after attending the mandatory Medical Assisting orientation. The Program Director will enter course overrides after you attend a mandatory Medical Assisting orientation. Medical Assisting orientations are typically during July/August for Fall entrance and November for Spring entrance. The Program Director will email you specific dates once you have been tentatively accepted into the Medical Assisting Program.
