Bienvenidos a Cleveland
Support for individuals and families relocating to Cleveland in search of opportunities. / Apoyo para las personas y las familias que se mudan a Cleveland, Ohio en busca de mejores oportunidades.
Bienvenidos a Cleveland is a collaborative project that began in September 2017 to support families relocating to Cleveland from Puerto Rico in the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria. The project was initiated through the efforts of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®), Esperanza Inc., the Spanish American Committee and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD).
Since late September 2017, hundreds of families have arrived in Cleveland—many of them seeking support from community-based organizations such as the Spanish American Committee, Cleveland’s oldest and largest Hispanic social service agency. The biggest challenge has been housing, as many of the families have little to no income. Other needs include emergency funding, employment assistance, transportation, medical assistance, behavioral services, child care, senior care, food, clothing, diapers and household items. The work of Bienvenidos remains critical to provide families with much needed support.
More recently, Bienvenidos a Cleveland has expanded to serve all individuals and families relocating to Cleveland from anywhere in the world.
