Tri-C Provides Pathway to Success in the Food Industry for 2003 Alum
Randy Miller was working toward his goal to lead a healthier lifestyle when he learned about Tri-C’s associate degree program in Dietetic Technology.
He attended classes at the Western Campus for a year before moving to Chicago to join his uncle’s business. In 1995, he moved back to Cleveland and began working as a logistics coordinator.
Miller returned to Tri-C in 2001 to finish his Dietetic Technology coursework, helped along by a scholarship from the American Dietetic Association Foundation. Two years later, he earned an Associate of Applied Science degree and became ServSafe® certified.
“The program faculty gave me the encouragement and constant support I needed to achieve my goals, and the counselors helped me match my abilities to potential career paths,” he said. “I worked with excellent mentors during my community nutrition practicum work, too.”
Miller transferred his Tri-C credits to Indiana Wesleyan University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in business marketing. He began his career in the food industry at Schwan’s and eventually became a territory manager with US Foods in Twinsburg.
“Tri-C allowed me to explore my interests and identify my skills,” he said. “It laid the foundation for starting my career and taught me the importance of teamwork.”
