Melissa Marflak
Melissa Marflak graduated from Cuyahoga Community College’s LPN program in 2011 and is currently enrolled in the LPN-RN program. As Melissa went through the program, her daughter, Taylor Chervenak, saw the commitment and passion with which she approached her education and decided that she too would enroll in the nursing program at Tri-C. Taylor begins the LPN program in August and both women are thrilled to be simultaneously enrolled at Tri-C.
When originally deciding what school to attend, Tri-C’s evening classes and wide variety of times and locations for prerequisite classes influenced her decision. Once enrolled in the nursing program, Melissa was struck by the quality of the clinic experiences, variety of clinic sites, and knowledgeable instructors. Furthermore, Melissa said that the nursing instructors continually stressed the importance of going back to school to become RNs. The articulation of this influenced her decision to continue her education within the Tri-C system. All of these elements contributed to her satisfaction and Taylor’s enrollment.
Melissa currently works at NCC, an organization that serves adults with intellectual disabilities. Her employment there further inspired Taylor who applied and was hired on in December of 2015 as a direct support professional supervisor. Taylor is thoroughly enjoying her job at NCC and working with her mother and, as a result, plans to continue working there as a nurse after her graduation. Melissa proudly shared, “She is very excited to follow my footsteps. It’s pretty cool that we will be [at Tri-C] at the same time.”
