Dwight Thompson
Diversity and Rigorous Environment Shaped Tri-C Alum’s Career
Dwight Thompson’s educational journey began at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) — a decision that significantly shaped his professional and personal development.
He enrolled at Tri-C to take advantage of dual enrollment opportunities that complemented his studies at Cleveland State University, where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. At Tri-C, Thompson earned his Associate of Arts, an experience he describes as sensational due to the diversity and rigor in the classroom.
“What makes it special is that the classes are made up of folks from different ages and different stages of life, but all working toward their respective goals,” he said.
The College's professors fostered a demanding environment that instilled a strong work ethic and discipline in Thompson. These skills proved invaluable as he advanced in his education and career.
The inclusive community at Tri-C enriched Thompson’s learning experience. This diversity prepared him for his role as the director of Community Outreach at Advanced Recovery Systems, where he leads initiatives across Ohio and other Midwest areas, driving business and partnerships in the behavioral health space.
Thompson encourages future students to “trust and embrace the process. Tri-C can play an integral part in helping you accomplish your educational, professional and personal goals if you allow it to do so.”
Thompson’s story exemplifies how Tri-C not only prepares its students academically but also instills in them the perseverance and focus to succeed beyond the classroom.
