Vision 2030 FAQ
Question 1: Why is the College launching a new strategic planning process now?
The College's current strategic plan is sunsetting this year, so there is a need to revisit our plan to keep us current in our thinking and operations. But perhaps even more fundamentally, we're at a pivotal moment. Our community is changing — enrollment patterns, workforce needs and even how people access education are evolving. This is an opportunity to reimagine how we can better serve our students and our community. A strong strategic plan will help us focus on what matters most and make sure we're ready for the future. This isn't just about challenges — it's about seeing the possibilities and setting ourselves up to lead in innovative, impactful ways.
Question 2: What's the purpose of a strategic plan as compared with the work we do every day?
The strategic plan is like a road map for the College. It helps us decide where we want to go over the next several years and how we'll get there together. While the work we all do every day is critical to keeping us moving forward, the strategic planning process gives us a chance to step back, look at the big picture, and make sure we're all heading in the same direction with a shared sense of purpose. This process is about connecting the great work we already do to an even greater vision for our future.
Question 3: How will faculty and staff be involved in the strategic planning process?
All voices are essential. This process will include listening sessions, surveys and opportunities for input because no one knows our students or the community better than all of us. Our ideas, experiences and collective insights will shape the plan. We want this to feel like our plan — not something handed down to us, but something built by all of us together.
Question 4: How will this process impact my daily work?
The goal is to make our work more meaningful and impactful. We'll focus on identifying the priorities that make the biggest difference for our students, our community and us. As we move through the process, we'll identify priorities that make our work more impactful, not more complicated. This is about making sure we're all pulling in the same direction and that every effort we make feels aligned with the College's mission and our shared vision for the future.
