FIRST Robotics

Accomplished inventor Dean Kamen founded FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) in 1989 to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people. Based in Manchester, N.H., FIRST designs accessible, innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology, and engineering. Youth Technology Academy's FIRST Robotics Team 120 won the Championship in 2016.

VEX Robotics

The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest and fastest growing middle school and high school robotics program globally. VEX has more than 16,000 teams from 40 countries playing in over 1,350 competitions worldwide. Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, build innovative robots and compete year-round in a variety of matches. Students have an opportunity to join the team each fall.

Drone Competitions

The REC Foundations Aerial Drone Competition is an event designed to challenge students and teams in the field of robotics and drone technology. The competition is an educational event that encourages participants to program and operate aerial drones while solving specific challenges. It aims to foster skills in engineering, programming, and problem-solving, and to promote interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.

The competition requires students to form teams and complete a series of tasks or missions using drones. These tasks can vary from navigating through obstacles, capturing images or data, delivering payloads, or other specialized operations.

The competition provides participants with hands-on experience in drone technology, including aerodynamics, electronics, and programming.

Overall, the REC Foundations Aerial Drone Competition serves as a platform for students to apply their knowledge, showcase their skills, and explore potential career paths in technology and engineering.
