The Advanced Technology Academy (ATA) offers students age 17-24 classroom and hands-on instruction for in-demand careers. Earn while you learn! The ATA program offers students training at no cost and industry-recognized certificates.
This program is funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act through OhioMeansJobs/Cleveland-Cuyahoga County.
Program Highlights

Program Requirements
- Ages 17-24
- High-school diploma or GED
- Cuyahoga County resident
- Ability to pass a drug test prior to employment
Training Programs
911 Dispatch
We offer a 12-week Dispatch Communications course that can provide you with the skills and training you need in police, fire and emergency medical dispatching. The course combines classroom and hands-on dispatch training, including job readiness and professionalism, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities. This course takes place at our Public Safety Training Center (Parma).
Auto Tech
Students are taught to diagnose, correct and repair electrical, fuel, emissions and mechanical problems found in today’s automobiles. Training is 16 weeks, including professional development, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities. This course takes place at our Advanced Automotive Technology Center (Parma).
Certified Logistics Technician
Complete training in 10 weeks and develop the core competencies of material handling at the frontline. We provide hands-on practical training using industry standard equipment. Training takes place in a simulated warehouse lab and includes OSHA 10 certification and tow-motor training. The course includes professional development, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities. This course takes place at our Transportation Innovation Center (Euclid).
Construction Pre-Apprenticeship
This eight-week program provides instruction and training in the construction skilled trades. Receive hands-on training in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, roofing, drywall installation, construction measurement and more. The course includes professional development, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities.
Culinary Arts
This program equips graduates with entry-level skills in classical and advanced culinary technique and includes ServSafe Manager certification in food safety and sanitation. Primary career opportunities include line cook, grill or sauté cook, prep cook and pantry cook. The 16-credit program features extensive culinary kitchen instruction and labs delivered within a compressed timeline that starts in the fall.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
This basic/paramedic program offers students training for skills needed to provide care to patients in a medical crisis. Students will take a state certification exam upon completion. Training is 16 weeks, including professional development, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities.
Industrial Welding
Students will have the opportunity to learn various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG and stick welding, as well as blueprint reading. Earn nationally recognized certificates through the American Welders Society. Training is 16 weeks, including professional development, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities.
Information Technology
The IT Center of Excellence provides streamlined pathways to IT jobs that pay an average of $53,000 per year. ATA offerings include Computer Support Specialist and Google IT Support Professional. Training for these programs are typically less than one semester, and includes professional development, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities.
Patient Access Representative
The patient access representative is often the first person a patient sees when they arrive at a hospital, doctor’s office or any medical admitting department. They provide exceptional customer service to patients, family members and clinical teams they support. Training is 21 weeks and includes medical terminology, electronic health records (EHR), Patient Access Specialist fundamentals, and fundamentals of billing and reimbursement. The course includes professional development, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities.
Machining Pre-Apprenticeship Training
Join the next generation of skilled machinist while earning high hourly pay with a state issued pre-apprentice certification. EMPLOYERS ARE WAITING! Create parts that are used by the military, aerospace, plumbing, automotive industries and more. Gain valuable skills such as blueprint reading, operation of drill presses, grinders and lathe machines. In as little as 14 weeks or less you could be starting your career and changing your life. Training includes: resume building, interviewing techniques and direct contact with the employers that are hiring near you.
State-Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
State-tested nursing assistants (STNA) play a critical role in the health care industry. As a member of the health care team, STNAs are members of the frontline staff, having the most direct contact with patients. Training is six weeks, and includes professional development, academic soft-skills classes and employment opportunities.
