Westshore Student Named Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar
Benjamin Mitchell one of 207 Phi Theta Kappa members honored
Benjamin Mitchell, a student at the Westshore Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®), has been selected as a 2021 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar.
The honor, which is accompanied by a $1,000 scholarship, helps new members of Phi Theta Kappa defray educational expenses. Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service and leadership potential.
Mitchell, 19, of Lakewood, was one of 207 scholars selected from a pool of more than 900 applicants from Phi Theta Kappa – the international honor society for students at associate degree-granting institutions.
The scholarship funds are provided by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, with the aim of aiding college completion and giving students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and become future leaders in their communities.
Mitchell, a 2020 graduate of Westside Christian Academy in Westlake, is currently studying business management at Tri-C, working toward an Associate of Arts degree with a projected graduation in spring 2022. Following graduation from Tri-C, he plans to attend Cleveland State University and major in business.
