Two Triceratops Named OCCAC Players of the Week
Baseball, softball teams dominate with multiple wins
Two Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) athletes received weekly player awards from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) after impressive showings for the baseball and softball teams March 20-26.
Following a hiatus, Lyndsey Baglia claimed her third career OCCAC honor with Pitcher of the Week, while freshman Mason Koons was named co-Baseball Position Player of the Week.
The Triceratops softball team swept Owens Community College in its March 26 doubleheader. On the mound in the second game, Baglia went all five innings for the win ― striking out six with only one walk.
She received back-to-back Player of the Week honors during the pre-pandemic 2019 season.
The baseball team went 6-8 in an action-packed week, topping Lorain County Community College in all four matchups and sweeping Terra State Community College in a doubleheader.
Koons scored at least one run in all seven games played, registering four multi-hit games.
The freshman middle infielder batted .519 (14-for-27) with two doubles, a home run and eight RBIs. He scored 13 runs after adding five steals and three walks.
The Triceratops baseball team is in first place in the OCCAC (4-0, 10-7 overall).
