Tri-C Vice President Elected NASFAA Chair
Angela Johnson to serve one-year term with national organization
CLEVELAND — To help improve access to higher education for potential students on a national level, Angela Johnson, Ed.D., the vice president for Enrollment Management at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®), was selected by her peers to serve as the chair of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).
The NASFAA works to ensure that qualified students have access to postsecondary education, no matter their socioeconomic background. Johnson will chair the board for one year (the 2025-2026 program year that begins in the summer of 2025) as she seeks to create impactful change, support the roles of financial aid administrators and promote student access.
"By championing equitable policies, streamlining processes and advocating for resources, we can create pathways that allow students from all backgrounds to succeed," Johnson said.
She has more than 25 years of experience across diverse educational settings — including a large public university, a community college and a proprietary institution.
"My journey as a first-generation college graduate has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the transformative impact of education and the critical importance of accessibility, advocacy and support," Johnson said.
Johnson has held leadership roles at state, regional and national levels. In Ohio, she's contributed to the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA), the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC) and the Ohio Attorney General's Office task force. Regionally, she has served on various committees and on the board of directors for the Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA). At the national level, Johnson has been a representative-at-large, commission director, ethics committee member and board member for the NASFAA.
Johnson has also served in elected positions on the College Board and the Higher Education Loan Coalition and on the Higher Education Commission of 50, where she helped develop policy recommendations for access, accountability, affordability and transparency in higher education.
The NASFAA is a nonprofit membership organization representing more than 29,000 financial aid professionals at approximately 3,000 colleges, universities and career schools across the country.
