Tri-C Receives 10th Consecutive HEED Award
Award recognizes colleges and universities committed to diversity and inclusion
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) has received a 2022 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.
This is Tri-C’s 10th consecutive year receiving the award, which recognizes U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.
“We are very proud to be a HEED Award recipient again,” said Michael Baston, president of Tri-C. “The equal justice and equity issues at the forefront of the national conversation highlight the continuing need for diversity and inclusion efforts. Tri-C is proud to do its part to advance those conversations and take action.”
The College will be one of 100 recipients recognized in the November 2022 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity. Tri-C was one of six Ohio schools — and the only community college in the state — to earn a 2022 HEED Award.
The award process consists of a comprehensive application examining various aspects of campus diversity and inclusion, from leadership support through the recruitment and retention of students and employees.
“We take a detailed approach to reviewing each application when deciding who will be named a HEED Award recipient,” said Lenore Pearlstein, publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. “Our standards are high, and we look for institutions where diversity and inclusion are woven into the work being done every day across their campus.”
