Tri-C Names Dr. Olusegun Ishmael as Executive in Residence To Advance Health Care Programming and Partnerships
Ishmael begins role on Jan. 27 and will work with Corporate College and Center for Entrepreneurs
Olusegun Ishmael, M.D., a nationally recognized leader in health care management and institutional leadership, will be joining Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) as an executive in residence, collaborating with academic leadership and Corporate College® to provide professional development for leadership and deans, improve business operations, and optimize academic and health care programming and partnerships.
Ishmael, who starts at Tri-C today, comes to the College after serving as the chief operating officer and president of the Hospital Division at MetroHealth, a county-supported regional health service provider, providing over 1.5 million patient visits through nearly 9,000 employees each year.
He brings an extensive background in academia, leadership and operational excellence in health care, including serving as vice president of clinical operations at Sinai Chicago, a four-hospital, nationally recognized research institution. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions in health care institutions, including division chief, medical director and vice president of medical affairs for health plans and department directors. He has also helped develop strategic community partnerships and practiced primary care and emergency medicine. In addition, he was a faculty member at Indiana University Northwest.

His work at Tri-C will include working with Corporate College to explore and expand the Center for Entrepreneurs program, providing guest lecturers to the academic schools and Corporate College clients, advising the academic schools on new program development, including certificates, post-degree certificates, and associate and applied bachelor's degrees based on current industry needs, and engaging the College's deans with leadership training and management strategies.
Ishmael received his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and an MBA from Purdue University. He completed his residency in family medicine at Methodist Hospitals in Gary, Indiana, and a fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
