Tri-C JazzFest Academy Director to Bring Back Concert Highlighting Veterans
Dominick Farinacci discusses Nov. 17 performance of Modern Warrior LIVE at Eastern Campus with ideastream
Dominick Farinacci, renowned jazz trumpeter and director of the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) JazzFest Academy, will bring his performance highlighting military veterans back to the stage in Northeast Ohio.
After a three-year pause due to the pandemic, Modern Warrior LIVE will take place Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Simon and Rose Mandel Theatre at Eastern Campus in Highland Hills. A panel discussion and audience Q&A will follow the performance.
“Music and the arts have such an incredible and profound power in the healing process,” Farinacci told ideastream.
Farinacci created Modern Warrior LIVE to help end the stigma around veterans’ trauma through jazz and storytelling. Created with Army veteran Jaymes Poling, the performance highlights mental health advocacy and music education while encouraging veterans to share their experiences.
Farinacci received a 2022 Cleveland Arts Prize, which recognizes area artists in dance, music, design and visual art.
