Tri-C Famous: Maureen Leonard
#TriCFamous is a bimonthly feature that introduces readers to the people who make the College work while providing a sneak peek into their lives off campus.
Maureen Leonard has taught pastry and baking at Tri-C’s Hospitality Management Center on Public Square since 2013. In her years of industry experience as an executive pastry chef, she has cooked for celebrities like Robin Williams, Oprah Winfrey and President Barack Obama. She also appeared on Season 3 of Food Network’s Sweet Genius and is a frequent guest on the Fox 8 Morning Show. Learn more about Chef Maureen in this week’s Tri-C Famous!
If you could hang out with any fictional character, who would it be and why?
Gogo and Didi [from Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot] would dodge me because I placed money on our friend being at least 20 minutes late, leaving me to choose opening a sustainable-solutions consulting firm with Lady Macbeth.
What are you most proud of?
My four children: Seamus and Declan, my first set of twins; and Nora and Aidan, my second set. Declan attends John Carroll University (my alma mater), and Seamus, Nora and Aidan attend the University of Arizona (their dad’s alma mater).
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Wonder Woman. I wanted those bracelets!
