Tri-C Faculty Shares Interior Design Trends for 2025
Nancy Kraig speaks with Cleveland Magazine about what is popular for interior environments
Each year, interior design trends come and go. From color swatches to flooring and kitchen countertops to bathroom tiles, the design world offers annual inspiration to keep homes looking modern.
Nancy Kraig, an assistant professor of interior design at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®), shared this year's trends for indoor decor in an interview with Cleveland Magazine. With marketplace insight and her classroom's collective inspiration-gathering, Kraig touched on 's moving into interior environments.
"Forecasting takes into account what's happening in the world and across cultures," Kraig said.
Here are six trends for 2025 that Kraig highlighted:
- Warming color trends that feature brown tones, such as rust yellows and burgundies, evoking a retro theme
- Grandmillennial treatments, including classic prints, throwback patterns, textiles like chintz and sheers, and upholstery detail, such as trim and tassels
- Minimal decor with houseplants that add life to a space
- Statement flooring with luxury vinyl plank to create herringbone layouts
- Arranging subway tiles, a backsplash staple, vertically to change their length and width
- Color drenching a room by saturating every surface (walls, ceilings, baseboards, doors and trim) with the same color to deliver a bold but calming monochromatic look
Interior designers help solve the functional and aesthetic design problems in residential and commercial interiors. Tri-C's Interior Design program, which is part of the School of Creative Arts, offers an associate degree in interior design.
