Tri-C Announces New Executive Director of Athletics
Anthony Franklin to continue development of Triceratops sports programs
On Wednesday, July 17, Anthony Franklin assumed the role of Executive Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
Franklin, most recently the manager of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation at Tri-C's Metropolitan Campus, succeeds Anthony Cipollone, who left the College in June. Lisa Horvath had served as the interim Collegewide director since Cipollone's departure.
Franklin, who was selected from a highly competitive pool of both internal and external candidates, has been an employee or volunteer at Tri-C for 10 years. From his beginnings as a volunteer, he became the student support supervisor before moving into his prior position at the Metro Campus.
"During his tenure at Tri-C, Anthony has shown exemplary dedication to our College's mission and values," said Eric Gordon, the College's senior vice president of student development and education pipeline. "His commitment to Tri-C students has been consistently evident throughout his career. His experience with our Athletics, Wellness and Recreation department — coupled with his successful career in event and artist promotions and management — brings a unique skill set to our program."
In his new role, Franklin will be an integral part of the continued development of Tri-C's athletic and recreation programs. He will help grow avenues of revenue generation, expand brand awareness and enhance recreation and wellness programming.
Tri-C is part of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference. Men's sports include baseball, basketball and soccer. Women's sports consist of basketball, softball, cross country, track and field, and volleyball.
Franklin holds a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He has also earned credentials as a sports management agent advisor.
