Tri-C and KeyBank Unveil New Name for Advanced Technology Training Center at Metro Campus
Partnership reflects commitment to supporting students and employers with enhanced workforce preparation
One of the largest technology training complexes in Ohio, located at the Metropolitan Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®), bears a new name: The KeyBank Advanced Technology Training Center (ATTC).
This recognition acknowledges KeyBank's long-standing partnership with Tri-C, including a recent grant from the KeyBank Foundation to the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation to help fill critical workforce needs in Northeast Ohio.
"KeyBank's purpose is to help our clients, colleagues and communities thrive. We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Tri-C to support education, workforce development and community strength," said Eric Fiala, KeyBank's chief corporate responsibility officer and the CEO of the KeyBank Foundation. "We are honored to be recognized for the positive impact of our collaboration, which supports the annual enrollment of more than 5,000 students in workforce courses, including at the Advanced Technology Training Center."
This partnership between Tri-C and KeyBank will:
- Expose youth to careers in high-demand fields
- Prepare people for jobs with family-sustaining wages
- Meet the holistic needs of the community through housing, food security and wraparound services
Tri-C opened the 50,000-square-foot building in October 2012. The ATTC links workforce education to the latest technology. It was designed and constructed to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
"The advanced skills that Tri-C offers prepare our students for exciting careers that are full of promise. Today, we honor KeyBank and the KeyBank Foundation for their role in facilitating economic mobility through access to quality training and education," said Tri-C President Michael A. Baston, J.D., Ed.D. "More people will be able to achieve the education that they need to prosper and find their path to success."
Tri-C's Workforce Community and Economic Development (WCED) Division seeks to address the barriers to completion for many students, including Black, Hispanic and female students.
WCED offers more than 60 noncredit and credit workforce training programs that lead to numerous industry-recognized certificates and associate degrees. More than 75% of students in these programs earn low to moderate incomes and seek new career possibilities.
"We are grateful for KeyBank and the KeyBank Foundation. Their continued significant, impactful investments help Tri-C offer innovative training that leads to the jobs of today. Together, we are setting a clear pathway to those opportunities, especially for people from populations underrepresented in their chosen career path," said Megan O'Bryan, the president of the Tri-C Foundation and vice president of development at the College.
KeyBank and the KeyBank Foundation support Tri-C in many ways. The KeyBank Public Safety Training Center at the Western Campus, home to the College's police and fire academies, was dedicated in 2016. KeyBank is also the presenting sponsor of Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland and supports life-changing student scholarships.
