Opioid Overdose Cabinets Installed Outside Campus Police Offices
Cabinets contain Naloxone for overdose victims
Campus Police and Security Services at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) have installed opioid overdose emergency cabinets at all four campuses and the Brunswick University Center.
These cabinets contain overdose emergency kits with naloxone. Commonly known by the brand name Narcan, this medication is used to counter the effects of opioid overdoses.
The cabinets are red and mounted on the wall outside each police office:
- Brunswick University Center, room 110
- Eastern Campus, ESS 1209
- Metro Campus, MCC 030
- Western Campus, G101
- Westshore Campus, SLT 123A
Each cabinet contains instructions on how to render aid to an overdose victim. No special access or permission is required for use.
Anyone who discovers an overdose victim should call 216-987-4911 immediately and render aid only after notifying emergency personnel.
The installation of these cabinets was made possible by RecoveryOhio, the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Health, which has offered up to five drug overdose emergency cabinets to each of Ohio's public colleges and universities, free of charge.
