Michael Baston Eyes Collaboration With CSU, CWRU Counterparts
College presidents discuss ideas to strengthen regional economy
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) President-Elect Michael Baston will play a key role in collaborating with Cleveland's largest higher-education institutions to expand the region's workforce and strengthen its economy.
Baston, who begins his tenure as Tri-C president July 1, joins Case Western Reserve University's Eric W. Kaler and Cleveland State University's Laura Bloomberg as presidents who took office within the past 12 months.
Baston, Bloomberg and Kaler told cleveland.com they can strengthen collaboration by aligning their programs and curriculum to complement each other.
Baston said that the educational needs of today's students are more diverse, with adults returning to school at later points in their careers and younger adults looking for job training and certification.
"One of the major opportunities in our community today is entrepreneurial spirit," Baston said. "What are the needs of business and industry?"
