Goldman Sachs 10KSB Program Empowered Chrissy Myers To Lead and Grow Her Family Business
Small-business education program highlighted in 'Smart Business Magazine'
Chrissy Myers' experience with the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) shows how tailored business education can be helpful during times of change.
The program supported Myers as she became the third-generation owner of her family's 50-year-old business, Associated Underwriters Insurance (AUI).
"The program enabled me to take the business that I had grown up in and truly make it my own," Myers said in Smart Business Magazine.
As the CEO and owner of AUI, an independent health insurance broker, Myers leveraged the program's focus on growth planning and high-level strategy to address operational challenges and identify opportunities to expand.
Beyond the classroom, the program's robust network of peers and alumni offered a collaborative environment where she could share experiences, address common challenges, and build lasting connections. According to Myers, the immediate returns on her time investment in 10KSB far outweighed other advanced education options.
Erika Hill, the executive director of 10KSB at Tri-C, says the program drives measurable results, with 66% of alumni reporting increased revenue and 44% creating new jobs within six months of completion.
"It's a program that participants can be proud to be part of, and it's free," Hill says. "It's an effective, impactful program that helps business owners hit the ground running."
The program not only fosters collaboration among participants but also links them to extensive resources through both Tri-C and the national alumni network. Myers credits 10KSB with equipping her to launch new initiatives like Clarity HR, a fractional HR services company, and other endeavors that position her business for sustainable growth.
"My experience with 10KSB has been transformational," Myers says. "It's not just about creating a growth plan — it's about learning how to take calculated risks, scale confidently, and invest in yourself as a leader. The long-term impact has been remarkable."
