Five Tri-C Plant Science and Landscape Tech Students Awarded Scholarships
Scholarships will help students continue education
Five students in the nationally renowned Plant Science and Landscape Technology program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) have received scholarships to continue their education as they prepare for careers in the green industry.
Four students received Green Industry Scholarships from the Ohio Landscape Association:
- Jessi Deveney received a $1,000 scholarship.
- Kaitlyn Torres was awarded a $1,500 scholarship.
- Emily Henschel received a $2,500 scholarship.
- Joshua Hackbarth received a $3,000 scholarship.
A fifth student, Gabrielle Fernandez, was one of 17 students nationally to earn the Anthony W. “Tony” LaFetra Scholarship from the Irrigation Association.
Deveney, Henschel and Hackbarth were presented with their scholarships at the 27th Annual Landscape Enhancement Awards Gala on June 28.
The College's Plant Science and Landscape Technology program has become the best two-year program in the nation, routinely placing alongside or above programs from large four-year universities in national competitions such as the National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC). Tri-C placed second overall in 2024 and finished first in 2023 at the NCLC.
