Fifteen Triceratops To Continue Athletic Careers at Next Level
Baseball, softball and basketball players commit to play at four-year programs
After strong seasons for Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) sports teams, 15 student-athletes are moving on to the next chapters of their careers.
These baseball, softball, women's and men's basketball players have committed to play at four-year colleges and universities next season.
Four athletes each signed to Division I and Division II college programs, and two more signed to Division III programs. Four will compete in National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics programs.
The athletes by sport and programs are:
Baseball: Jackson Judy (University of Dayton), Mason Koons (Ashland University), Colin Russ (Bluffton University), Gavin Mangus (Ohio Dominican University), Connor Bozak (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee), Carter Gast (Bowling Green State University), Jaren Slusher (University of Fort Lauderdale), Layton O’Rourke (University of Fort Lauderdale), Ricardo Medrano (Shawnee State University) and Braden Reed (Ohio Dominican University), Silas Moore (Jackson State University), John Nhem (University of Northwestern Ohio)
Softball: Abbie Gayner (University of Mount Union)
Men's Basketball: Marcos Vasquez (Shawnee State)
Women's Basketball: Tori Smith (Lake Erie College)
Four other athletes have yet to announce their decisions, with three expected to choose D-I programs.
The Triceratops had two Ohio Community College Athletics Conference (OCCAC) titles in women’s basketball and baseball, as well as top-three finishes in four of the five league sports.
