Fall 2024 Commencement: Allison Price’s Persistence Pays Off
Allison Price first discovered her passion for lab work while working as a veterinary assistant for a few years after high school.
In 2017, she enrolled at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) to pursue a career in veterinary technology. However, she was faced with early challenges and paused her education journey.
"My first go at Tri-C wasn't so great," she said. "I was nervous I would fail."
But the persistent Price, a 25-year-old Solon native and Western Campus student, ultimately returned to Tri-C in 2022 and was accepted to the Mandel Scholars Academy — which she admits was a surprise but helped her grow as a leader and person.
"When I returned to Tri-C, I was repairing myself from my first go," Price said. "I was accepted into the Mandel Scholars Academy, which I never thought I would be accepted into. I made so many connections!"
She also served as a Tri-C Democracy Fellow in 2024 and a student ambassador at the Western Campus.
After graduating with an Associate of Science during Tri-C's Fall Commencement on Dec. 12 at the Wolstein Center, Price will transfer to Cleveland State University, where she plans to major in biology and minor in chemistry.
What made you choose Tri-C? When did you first enroll?
I attended Tri-C back in 2017 to pursue a career in veterinary technology, so when I decided to change my path, there was no better option than to start at Tri-C again.
Describe your Tri-C experience. Has a specific person, class or event played a role in your success?
Many factors played a role in my success. Being a Mandel Scholar, I grew more than I thought I could and made so many connections! Also, I served as a student ambassador, helping anyone who needed it. I shared my story with others, hoping to inspire and give them the courage to face their fears.
How has Tri-C changed your life?
I will forever be grateful for the many opportunities and connections I have made during my time at Tri-C. I learned more about my career and myself.
Do you have any pearls of wisdom to share with students considering a similar degree or certificate program?
Never be afraid to take a step outside your comfort zone. It can lead to wonderful things and wonderful people!
Tri-C will celebrate the academic achievements of its newest graduates during Commencement on Dec. 12 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland. Check our News and Events page leading up to the event for more highlights from the Class of 2024.
