Celebration Time: Tri-C Schedules Spring Commencement
Limited-attendance ceremonies begin at noon and 4 p.m. June 9 at Byers Field in Parma
Times have been set for a pair of in-person Spring 2021 Commencement ceremonies honoring the latest graduates from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
The 90-minute outdoor celebrations will begin at noon and 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Byers Field at Robert. M Boulton Stadium in Parma. These will be the College’s first in-person commencement ceremonies since December 2019 and the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two ceremonies will take place, each limited to 300 petitioning graduates. Four guests may accompany each graduate to witness their cap-and-gown moment. Tickets will be required for graduates and guests.
Petitioning graduates can reserve seats at one ceremony for themselves and their guests by visiting tri-c.edu/CommencementRSVP by June 1. Tickets are first-come, first-served.
The more than 12,000-seat stadium venue provides enough space to safely gather while maintaining physical distancing guidelines required due to COVID-19. Facial coverings will be required.
Both in-person ceremonies will be livestreamed on the College’s commencement webpage for family members and friends who cannot attend the event.
Graduates overwhelmingly requested that Tri-C find a way to hold an in-person commencement to celebrate their academic achievement. The College held virtual celebrations for graduates in spring and fall 2020 given restrictions on large crowds due to the pandemic.
A virtual commencement option will also be available for Tri-C’s spring graduates at 7 p.m. June 9. It will be available for viewing on the College’s commencement webpage and YouTube channel.
Visit tri-c.edu/commencement for more information on the June 9 ceremonies.
