10KSB Turns Midwife Into Business Owner
Ann Konkoly, founder of Authentic Koaching, expanded her impact after connecting with other entrepreneurs in the program
CLEVELAND — Ann Konkoly has always had a passion for helping others. After starting her career as a midwife, Konkoly shifted gears and decided to coach other nurses in a group setting.
Konkoly founded Authentic Koaching in 2019 to help advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) feel less overwhelmed and more empowered.
"I want to help nurses use their skills to live better lives," she said.
To further help nurses, Konkoly realized she needed to learn more about how to run a business. She heard great reviews of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) from alumni at a networking event. After researching the program, she decided to apply.
"After starting and building my business through the pandemic, I was eager to get involved with other local entrepreneurs," Konkoly said.
Connecting with those other local business owners was valuable because they learned from and supported each other.
"I gained a better understanding of the financial side of my business and the alternative methods of financing business growth," Konkoly said. "From working with my business advisor to learning from industry experts on marketing, negotiation and leadership, every session was useful to me and my business."
10KSB was so impactful that Konkoly decided to embark upon a new business venture. She started Kultivate Women’s Health, which offers accessible and personalized hormone replacement therapy and medical weight loss programs.
“I’m a midwife-turned-business owner, and I never imagined that would be the case,” Konkoly said. "Creating this business has been one of the most rewarding professional endeavors I have had.”
