10KSB Helps Local Lawyer Collaborate With Fellow Business Leaders
Rachel Reight of Baasten, McKinley & Co. found partnerships and connections that accelerated her firm’s growth
No matter the industry, when business owners come together, they often discover that they face similar issues. That connection is one of the most valuable resources that they can share.
For Rachel Reight, the co-owner and managing partner attorney at Baasten, McKinley & Co. LPA in Canton, that connection came through the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
Reight has been practicing law since 2004, currently focusing on employment law at Baasten, McKinley & Co. She joined the firm in 2005 because she shared its vision of promoting workplace justice and protecting employees from discrimination, harassment and other mistreatment.
"I went from employee to partner to managing partner in 2022 to continue the firm's strong history of employee representation in legal matters," Reight said.
As a managing partner, Reight sought out additional insights to grow the firm and learned about the 10KSB program from a Tri-C employee.
"I'm a lifelong learner, so I'm always looking for opportunities to gain more knowledge on many different topics, and 10KSB allowed me to overcome business challenges and accelerate the growth trajectory of my small business," Reight said. "I had access to resources and expertise, like the mentorship program and workshops, which helped my small business grow."
Reight is excited to implement the knowledge she gained through 10KSB.
"The impact the 10KSB program had on my business is profound," she said. "This program allowed me the opportunity to think about my business in a different way and create new partnerships, collaborations and connections. Moreover, it provided tools and resources that will allow the firm to demonstrate our commitment to growth and development to enable us to continue fighting for our clients and fair and just workplaces."
