10KSB Fellows Program Accepting Applications Nov. 1
Program allows students to receive paid work experience at area businesses
Beginning Nov. 1, eligible students at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) can apply to enter the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) Fellows program to gain valuable paid work experience at a Northeast Ohio business run by a 10KSB graduate.
The 10KSB program provides learning and networking opportunities to small business owners looking to increase their leadership skills and grow their businesses. 10KSB fellows will be matched with a 10KSB graduate, receiving paid work experience at the graduate’s business.
The application window is open until Nov. 19, after which up to 50 Tri-C students will be selected as fellows for Spring 2022. Eligible students must meet the following qualifications:
Enrolled at Tri-C for Spring 2022 (by Dec. 10, 2021)
Pursuing a degree
30 credits completed
Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
Tri-C President Alex Johnson notes that the fellows program stands to benefit underserved students in particular.
“Connecting underserved college students with businesses in need of talent is a win-win, and I’m proud that the program has developed its roots right here in Cuyahoga County,” Johnson said.
Patrice Blakemore, executive director of 10KSB at Tri-C, notes the program will help develop future entrepreneurs while helping the entrepreneurs of today.
“We know that small businesses are the heart of our economy,” Blakemore said. “10KSB Fellows is an innovative experience that matches student interns with 10,000 Small Businesses alumni. We believe these students are entrepreneurs in the making who will create a stronger future economy.”
Tri-C is one of six colleges and universities piloting the 10KSB Fellows program. The others are LaGuardia Community College in NYC; Morgan State University, Community College of Baltimore County and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore; and Dallas College in Dallas.
