"What is played from the heart reaches the heart."

- Robert Hubbard

Robert was five years old when he started performing, drumming during services at his father’s church. He’s been setting the groove ever since, as a bandleader, music producer and instructor. His percussion style deftly and diversely incorporates jazz, soul, R&B and true to his roots, gospel influences.

Honing his gifts at Cleveland’s acclaimed Music Settlement and advancing to the Cleveland School of the Arts, Robert was twice recognized as Ohio’s top high school jazz drummer at the Tri-C JazzFest.

By 1993 Robert was establishing himself on tour with local Cleveland artists. His 1996 band, “Moments Notice” has shared the stage with musical greats including the late Wayman Tisdale, Yellowjackets, Earth, Wind & Fire, among others.

Renamed in 2006 as “Hubb’s Groove,” Robert and his band still maintain an active performance and touring schedule, showcasing northeast Ohio’s wealth of jazz talent.
