Welcome to Neighborhood Scholars

Neighborhood Scholars takes Encore 55+ Learning into the community with off-campus courses and tours presented in cooperation with community partners.  These are one-time or short-series opportunities held throughout Greater Cleveland.

  • Various programs are offered throughout the Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring (March) sessions.
  • The dates, times, and fees vary based on program.

Encore is Celebrating 50 YearsEncore 55+ Learning is celebrating 50 years! Come celebrate with us on Oct. 10 at Western Campus and Oct. 24 at Eastern Campus. Learn more on our 50th Anniversary web page.


Fall 2025 registration opens Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m.

  • Catalogs arriving in homes now.
  • Fall Encore starts Friday, Sept. 26.
  • No class Friday, Oct. 17 (College closed)

Need Assistance? Registration Assistance Days Available

Enrollment Services will host days at the Eastern, Western and Westshore campuses to assist you with registering for the Encore program.

  • Wednesday, Aug. 13 | 9 a.m. - Noon | Western Campus Info Desk (WSS G100)
  • Friday, Aug. 15 | 9 a.m. - Noon | Eastern Campus Enrollment Services (ESS 1600)
  • Monday, Sept. 15 | 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Westshore Campus (SHCS 161)
  • Wednesday, Sept. 17 | 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Eastern Campus at Enrollment Services (ESS 1600)
  • Monday, Sept. 22 | 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Western Campus Info Desk (WSS G100)

Attend our New Student Orientation to learn more about our program and be provided with a tour of the Encore Campus Fridays space. An individual from Enrollment Services will also be on-site to assist with registration.

Join Us In The Community!

Neighborhood Scholars takes Encore 55+ Learning into the community with off-campus courses and tours presented in cooperation with community partners. These are one-time or short-series opportunities held throughout Greater Cleveland. Past stops have included the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, Lake View Cemetery, places of worship, the Rockefeller Park Greenhouse and the Cleveland Public Library.

Fall 2025:

  • Days: Varies (Monday - Thursday)
  • Dates: Varies (Sept. - Nov.)
  • Times: Varies (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
  • Class Lengths: 1-3 hours
  • Fee: $20-$99 for each course
  • Locations: Throughout Greater Cleveland
  • Registration Date: Registration opens Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m.
