What is a Competency-Based Education (CBE) program?
The Competency-Based Education pathway for the Cybersecurity Post-Degree Certificate offers students a more flexible method for completing coursework. Students take the same courses but have the opportunity to complete them faster and add new classes within a 16-week semester. Students work with the IT program director to schedule classes and can register in weeks 1,3,5, and 7.
What are the benefits of a CBE program?
- You can work at your own pace.
- Access to learning resources on your schedule - anytime, anywhere.
- Individualized faculty support throughout the program.
- Leverage current knowledge and experience to achieve course competencies more quickly, allowing you to complete courses on your schedule.
- Accelerate through a course (or slow down as necessary) to meet the demands of your life.
- Education is focused on mastering competencies without time constraints found in the traditional classroom setting.
- Student support for CBE students includes faculty, counselors, Student Accessibility Services, enrollment services, associate dean, program manager, financial aid services, Veteran’s services and technology assistance.
- You may be a candidate to earn credit for prior learning.
(Students must complete all coursework within the timeline of a full-term course, but can complete the course prior to the end of the term.)
