Cosmology (without the "t"): An Introduction to the Universe

Would you like to know what’s really out there; hundreds of thousands, millions and even billions of light years away?  This class will take you places that you may not even know exist, but we will be back in time for dinner.  Stars and how they die, the formation of galaxies, the age and size of the universe and why the universe gets bigger every day will be explored.  We will even find out what dark matter and dark energy might be.  All of this (except for the “dark” stuff) will be viewed using 360-degree images from the brand new digital projection system at the renovated Walter R Schuele planetarium at Lake Erie Nature & Science Center.

Instructor: Fran Ratka, B.S. chemistry, planetarium coordinator and former high school science and astronomy teacher.
