Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland
Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland, presented by KeyBank
Message From Terri Pontremoli, Director:
We laughed, we cried, we "Spread Love!"
The 45th Annual Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland, presented by KeyBank, from June 20 – 22, 2024, was one for the memory books. The blistering heat did not deter 15,000 die-hard music fans from taking advantage of the wall-to-wall performances and other activities outside on the plaza at Playhouse Square. The indoor lineup covered a variety of styles that had the audience laughing and crying. Take 6 “Spread Love” by taking the audience down memory lane on opening night. Artistic highlights included Cécile McLorin Salvant’s channeling Bessie Smith and her treatment of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene; the healing spirituality of Charles Lloyd’s performance; a spontaneous festival moment with Bob James and Marcus Miller honoring David Sanborn; and Dominick Farinacci’s moving tribute to several decades of Tri-C’s trumpet tradition with Sean Jones, Curtis Taylor and Tommy Lehman, backed by a powerful rhythm section of Tri-C alumni. Comic relief came in the form of super funk with witty asides from Scary Goldings.
Indoor attendance: 7,075
Outdoor attendance: 15,000
