Employment is an important source of financial assistance for students. The work experience is intended to complement the student's educational process and enhance future employment. Whenever possible, the work experience is related to the student's educational program and career objectives. Student employment not only accommodates the student but also provides services necessary to the daily operation of the College.

Students work no more than 20 hours per week and can hold only one position with the College at a time.

Work-Study Students are funded through the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program. FWS is a federal financial assistance program that requires the student to complete and file the FAFSA form, meet specific eligibility requirements, and receive FWS funds from the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Office. Due to having a limited amount of FWS funds available, they are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. A student employment award is NOT a guarantee of employment.

Student Assistants are funded through the division budget of the hiring department, which authorizes students to work an allocated number of hours for the current academic year.

Internships give all students (FWS, RSA and International F-1) an opportunity to gain valuable experience by working at a Tri-C campus or off-campus location while taking summer courses. You can receive more information on internship opportunities through Career Services.

The College does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of employee visas other than in the exemptional circumstances for F-1 and J-1 students applying for approved student positions.

Current Tri-C employees must apply through the COMPASS Welcome page. To view our employment opportunities in COMPASS, hover over the "Internal Job Postings" tab in the blue bar, then click on "Internal Career Site" in the drop-down menu.
