Area of Study: Art
Degree/Certificate: Associate of Arts with Emphasis in Art
Academic School: Creative Arts
Is art a key ingredient in your personal life or career goals? Would you like it to play a bigger role? Art courses at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will connect you with top-notch instructors and professional artists who can help you on your journey. Through classes in art appreciation, drawing, printmaking, painting and ceramics, students prepare for a deeper dive into an artistic life. Digital arts and honors courses are also available. Tri-C students participate in portfolio-building activities that prepare them to transfer to a four-year institution, or to enter the practicing art world.
Transfer Your Creativity to CIA
Through this partnership, Tri-C students who complete a specified curriculum and are admitted to CIA will transfer with 30 semester units of transferable credit. Students would enter CIA as sophomores and directly begin their degree program in one of CIA's 13 majors in visual arts, craft and design. Visit the CIA website for more information.
Art Therapy
In addition, Art Therapy is offered as a transfer track culminating in an Associate of Arts degree. Coursework prepares students to transfer to a bachelor's degree program in art therapy. Students who complete 12 core courses from the Art Therapy track may also earn a document referring them as an art specialist. The document can provide an opportunity to obtain jobs as an activity aid/assistant in a variety of settings.
